Obituary for Jeanette Shelley Herring

DOTHAN. . .Jeanette Shelley Herring, a resident of Dothan, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 13, 2023, in a Dothan hospital. She was 88.
Graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, September 16, 2023, in the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, (County Road 99, Tumbleton Community, near Headland), with Dr. Taylor Rutland officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is honored to be in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Dothan Women’s Ministry, 300 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301.
Mrs. Herring was born and raised in the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, daughter of the late Willie Howard Shelley and Jewel Bradshaw Shelley. She was a graduate of Headland High School. Mrs. Herring lived in Dothan all her adult life. She was retired from Regions Bank, formerly First Alabama Bank. For the past 30 years, Jeanette and Harold owned and operated Herring Jewelry where they enjoyed working together daily with Nancy Kopko. Mrs. Herring was a member of First Baptist Church of Dothan.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Maggie Ruth Morris and Sybil May, and two brothers, Billie Shelley and James L. “Spud” Shelley.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Harold Floyd Herring; a son, Donald H. “Don” Herring (Karen), Troy, AL; grandchildren, Mitch Herring (Leigh Ellen), Zack Herring (Tori), Garrett Herring and Ross Herring; great-grandchildren, Livy Herring, Margaret Herring and Eloise Herring.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Mitch Herring, Zack Herring, Garrett Herring, Ross Herring, Grad Stokes and Steve Stokes.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Cardiac Care Unit at Flowers Hospital for the loving care and kindness shown to “Nana” during her illness.
