Obituary for Jimmy Dyson

HEADLAND… Jimmy Dyson, a resident of Headland, AL, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023, in a Dothan Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 22, 2023, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Larry Elliott officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the Tolbert Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary.
Jimmy Dyson was born and reared in Haleburg, son of the late William Ivey “Bill” Dyson and Gracie Mae Dyson. He was a graduate of the Houston County High School in Columbia. Jimmy served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church and was also affiliated with the Tolbert Baptist Church. Jimmy was retired from Georgia Pacific at Cedar Springs, GA as a mechanic. He loved Alabama Crimson Tide football and the Atlanta Braves. Jimmy is preceded in death by a sister, Janie Mae Love.
Surviving relatives include his wife Peggy Ann Fudge Dyson; a daughter, Gracie Dawn Mazan (Ron), Ashford; two sons, William Michael Dyson (Hope), Ashford; and Stephen James Dyson, Headland; step-children, Michael Kelly (Patrice), Powder Springs, GA; and Amy Raybon, Headland; grandchildren, Morgan Roddam, Blake Roddam and Karleigh Dyson; step-grandchildren, Kelsey Raybon, Cricket Haddan and Hana Kelly; step-greatgrandchildren, Lorna Deese, Ki Deese and Luken Deese.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Blake Roddam, Ron Mazan, Michael Dyson, Bobby Johnson, Earl Johnson, Michael Kelly.
